Day 1: Riverside Arrival and Canopy Adventure
Arrive in Puerto Maldonado between 8 am and 12:30 pm, immersing yourself in the vibrant heart of the Amazon rainforest. A 25-minute drive takes you to the Taricaya Ecological Reserve office, where the journey truly begins. Embark on a private 1:30-hour boat trip along the Madre de Dios River to the Taricaya Research Center, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the rainforest. After a warm reception and settling into your accommodations, a welcome talk and lunch await. Explore the Rescue Center facilities, and in the late afternoon, embark on a 20-minute walk through the lush forest to the canopy walkway. Ascend a 150ft (42m) high platform atop a colossal Kapok (Lupuna) tree, capturing the essence of the forest until sunset. Conclude the day with dinner at Taricaya, serenaded by the symphony of frogs, crickets, and cicadas.

Day 2: Macaw Magic and Rainforest Revelations
Rise early to a delightful breakfast between 7:00 am and 8:40 am at Taricaya Ecological Reserve. Choose between an up-close encounter with macaws in a black backdrop photo studio or assisting a resident ornithologist in the study and identification of local bird species. After a satisfying lunch, you can either witness the wildlife activity at the mammal clay lick platform tower or contribute to the preparation of diets for rescued macaws. The afternoon may unfold with a jungle walk, allowing you to encounter white-lipped peccaries and monkeys. An optional night boat ride or walk offers a chance to explore the nocturnal wonders of the rainforest. Dinner at Taricaya concludes your day.

Day 3: Panoramic Towers and Twilight Treasures
Start the day with breakfast at 6:00 am before embarking on a 7:00 am boat trip to Puerto Maldonado. A 1:30 to 2-hour car journey leads to the Tambopata River, followed by a scenic 10-minute boat ride to the Chuncho Lodge. Lunch is enjoyed along the way or at the lodge, setting the stage for the adventure ahead. After settling in, ascend a 130ft (40m) canopy tower for unparalleled views of the rainforest, teeming with macaws and colorful birds during sunset. As the evening unfolds, participate in a mesmerizing night walk to observe the diverse nocturnal life. A delectable dinner at Chuncho Lodge completes the day.

Day 4: Sunrise Spectacle at El Chuncho Clay Lick
At 4:30 am, embark on a private boat journey heading upstream the Tambopata River to the renowned El Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. Witness the spectacular gathering of parrots and macaws feasting on clay, creating a perfect backdrop for awe-inspiring photographs. Return to the lodge for a relaxing morning, offering an opportunity for reflection or further exploration. After a satisfying lunch, engage in a jungle walk to discover the local wildlife and learn about the medicinal plants of the Amazon. The evening is free, providing the option for a night walk, weather permitting. Dinner at Chuncho Lodge concludes the day.

Day 5: Canopy Marvels and Brief Return to Civilization
Option A: Wake up at 4:30 am for a second visit to El Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, capturing different scenes and landscapes.
Option B: Take a jungle walk or visit the Canopy Tower before breakfast for colorful bird photography.
Afterward, return to the lodge for breakfast and then travel back to Puerto Maldonado. In the afternoon, head to Lago Soledad Lodge, explore the surroundings, or visit the 105 ft (32m) high canopy tower overlooking the lake. A delightful dinner at the lodge concludes the day.

Day 6: Dawn Serenity and Rainforest Rendezvous
Awaken at 5:30 am to the echoes of monkey calls, setting the tone for an early morning paddle on the lake with a catamaran. Encounter resident giant otters, spider monkeys, herons, and black caimans. After a full breakfast at 8 am, ready yourself for a 2.5 mi (4 km) leisurely walk through the rainforest, discovering giant Kapok (Lupuna) and Ironwood trees while embracing the diverse wildlife. Enjoy a regional Amazonian lunch, followed by a river cruise or a visit to the canopy tower for unique photography opportunities. Conclude the day with a light dinner, setting the stage for a restful night.

Day 7: Macaw Extravaganza and Lakeside Exploration
Embark on a boat excursion to the Macaw Clay Lick at 5:45 am, ensuring an early departure to witness the morning spectacle of macaws. Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon, explore the lake via catamaran, searching for giant otters, black caimans, and various birdlife. A sumptuous dinner at the lodge provides the perfect conclusion to an enchanting day.

Day 8: Farewell Macaw Clay Lick and Homeward Bound
Commence the day at 5:45 am with a final visit to the macaw clay lick near Lucerna, observing parrots and macaws until 10 am. Indulge in a delightful breakfast while immersed in the surrounding beauty. Begin the return journey to Puerto Maldonado, arriving at around noon for lunch. Reflect on the journey during the return, sharing highlights and experiences. Conclude the adventure with a drop-off at the airport, leaving the Amazon rainforest with a profound appreciation for its wonders.
