Arrive in Puerto Maldonado between 8 am and 12:30 pm, immersing yourself in the vibrant heart of the Amazon rainforest. A 25-minute drive takes you to the Taricaya Ecological Reserve office, where the journey truly begins. Embark on a private 1:30-hour boat trip along the Madre de Dios River to the Taricaya Research Center, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the rainforest. After a warm reception and settling into your accommodations, a welcome talk and lunch await. Explore the Rescue Center facilities, and in the late afternoon, embark on a 20-minute walk through the lush forest to the canopy walkway. Ascend a 150ft (42m) high platform atop a colossal Kapok (Lupuna) tree, capturing the essence of the forest until sunset.
